Summer and Toenail Fungus

Summer weather has arrived in Houston! It is time to jump in the pool! Here are some precautions you can take while being in public pools or water parks where toenaill fungus is more likely to catch on:

  1. Never walk barefoot! Make sure to wear sandals at all times when walking around the pool or water parks. This will protect your feet from toenail fungus which lives in humidity. Athletes foot, also known as tinea pedis, an infection of the feet caused by fungus can also be caused by walking bare foot outside in public places such as water parks and pool areas.
  2. Always have handy deodorant or a powder every day. They will not only help remove the smell but can also protect against fungus.
  3. Apply some antifungal remedy to your feet. It can be a gel or a cream. It would be wise to always have handy antifungal creams to everybody who has an active lifestyle and is a frequenter in shower cabins at such public places like gyms, swimming pools, or saunas.
